“Always there has been an adventure just around the corner - and the world is still full of corners.”

LONDON

Day 1

Since we live in separate cities, I had arranged for Sharon and Natalie to meet up with Madeline and me in Chicago so that we could start making memories right away.  Due to bad weather, their flight was redirected to New York, leaving us to make our way over the pond separately.  Luckily, it worked out that we were able to meet at the airport in London.
Within the span of 12 hours, Madeline went from this, to that.
Make sure you read Rick's Travel Tips so that you don't have Madeline's problem.  It's nice if you can arrive a day or two early so that you have some time to recover from jet lag.  With all the information Rick's staff provides, booking an extra day prior to your tour is easy - get there early and start exploring!
We started off with a group meeting at our hotel where we were introduced to our tour guide, Yorick, and his assistant Emma, whose job was to look after the kids.  Together, we shared a toast to the adventure ahead and were paired with a buddy for the trip.  The buddy system is important because it ensures that no one gets left behind, plus, it's a great way to make new friends!
After the buddy pairing, we all took a walk around the neighborhood to orient ourselves to our new location.  We enjoyed our first group dinner, followed by a ghost walk led by a local gentleman who considers himself the "ghost expert."
We do a neighborhood walk to orient ourselves in every new location so that free time isn't spent wandering, unless, of course, that's what you choose to do.  If you need the guides for any reason, they are available and only a text away.  Free time on any tour is very important, because without it, you might feel trapped in an exhausting, full itinerary.
