"Rocks in my path? I keep them all. With them, I shall build my castle."

BURGUNDY

Day 6

"When I heard that we were going to visit a construction site, I was underwhelmed.  I see plenty of half-completed construction sites where I live!"

             -Laura (me)

I just didn't get it, but went anyway and was completely blown away! All of the builders wear traditional clothes and are limited to using only tools and methods available during the 13th century.  The supplies are gathered from neighboring areas and transported across the grounds using horses and wagons.  Watching them stay true to the time period and original design of the building was surreal - I am 82% sure we time traveled.  This was one of my favorite spots!
Our guide for the tour of the castle reminded me of Sting (no complaints here!) and was very knowledgeable about 13th century architecture.  He explained everything, from the type of stones used to the unconventional measuring method.  We even got to practice some of our stone carving skills!
Don't make the same mistake I did... if Rick and his tour guides say it's cool, just go with it!

On our way to the castle, we had seen a place to go zip lining.  We had some free time after visiting the castle, so the kids chose that as their afternoon free time activity.  By the looks of this video here, they didn't have ANY fun... poor kids!
